Alfred Pepe Obituary

Alfred Henry Pepe, Moscow, Idaho

Al Pepe, of Moscow died peacefully on March 9, 2019 at Aspen Park Care Center in Moscow.

Al was born August 21, 1920, to Henry and Filomena Pepe in New Hyde Park, N.Y. He worked in construction, operating heavy equipment for forty years.  He met Ida Stella in 1940 and they were married August 3, 1941. Al was drafted into the Army Corps of Engineers during WWII, serving in France and Germany.

They had two daughters, Alida in 1949 and Karin in 1952, then moved from New Hyde Park to East Northport, Long Island, N.Y. in 1956.

Al and Ida retired and moved to Moscow in 1979. Gardening, woodworking and maintaining their country home on Mill Road kept Al busy until their move to Fairview Village in 2013 and then to Bishop Place in Pullman, WA in 2018.  After 77 years of marriage, Al lost Ida to a stroke in July 2018. He remained at Bishop Place until his stroke in January 2019 at which time Al moved into Aspen Park for rehab.  Al worked hard to gain back all that he had lost due to the stroke—his sense of humor, courage and positive attitude were an inspiration to everyone.

Al was preceded in death by his brother, two sisters and his wife, Ida. He is survived by his daughters Alida Bockino and Karin Clifford (Greg); grandchildren Mike Bockino (Kaiya), Emily Bockino and Nancy Bockino (Colin Wan) and sister Helen Rulon.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Moscow Volunteer Ambulance Fund.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 A.M., Wednesday March 20th at the Moscow Cemetery.

Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow is handling the service arrangements and online condolences may be sent to www.shortsfuneralchapel.net.
