Barbara Hult Obituary

Our mom, Barbara Hult, was called home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on May 13, 2018 at her home in Moscow. She was 89.

Barbara was born on July 3, 1928 in Idaho Falls, ID to Dave and Zelda (Hyatt) Arave of Taylor, Idaho. She grew up in Taylor.  She met her husband Kay T. Hult while going to Shelley High School and they were married on June 10, 1947 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Once married, they lived for a few years in Middleton, Idaho but returned to Shelley where she worked as secretary at Shelley Jr. High and helped run the family farm until 1971.  The family moved to Boise, Idaho where she worked for her husband, Kay, as secretary of Idaho Teachers Mutual Insurance Company.

In 1983 they moved to Moscow, Idaho, her current home, where she worked at Washington State University in the Registrar’s Office, and upon retirement worked with her husband and sons at Tater’s Restaurant until it closed in 1999.  She had a very strong bond with her family, was very caring and always cared about their welfare before her own. She loved doing things and going places with her family. Whomever she met, in a short while, would relay to the family how sweet she was. Barbara was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Relief Society. She enjoyed crocheting, playing checkers with the visiting missionaries, and her chocolate chip cookies were “legendary”.

She is survived by her children, Leonard Hult, of Dallas, Texas. Clayton Hult of Moscow, Idaho. Linda Ulmer of Moscow, Idaho and Craig (Mary) Hult of Spokane, Washington. By her grandchildren, Clint Ulmer, of Boise, Idaho. Barbara Mendoza, of Nampa, Idaho. Kacey Hult of Moscow, Idaho and Jack Hult of Spokane, Washington. Step grandchildren, Nick (Carly) Garras, Alex Garras and Kathryn Garras. She is also survived by her 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Kay T. Hult, her parents, Dave and Zelda Arave, her sister Bernice Matthews and brother-in-law, Dale Matthews and her brother in-law Glen Hult and one great granddaughter.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the LDS Stake Center on A Street in Moscow. Viewing will begin at 1:00 PM at the Church. Another service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley, Idaho, with viewing one hour prior. Burial and the grave dedication will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Shelley.

The family suggests memorials be made to Kindred Hospice in Pullman, Washington.
