Dayle Mundy Obituary

Dayle LaRayne Mundy of Moscow died Monday, June 4, 2018 at her home. She was 82.

Dayle was born March 30, 1936 at home in Chinook, Montana to Alfred and Ida (Severson) Hobbs. She grew up and attended school there where she graduated from high school. She then attended Concordia College for a time. A young Great Northern Railroad Machinist, Robert A. “Al” Mundy, was doing his apprenticeship in Chinook when he and Dayle met. They were married in Chinook on May 20, 1956. The couple owned and operated a service station in Chinook before moving to Whitefish, MT, then to Wenatchee, WA.

In 1968 the family moved to Moscow where Dayle worked for Sears, Culligan, the University of Idaho and served as an executive assistant for the City of Moscow until retiring from the City in 1998.

In retirement, she and Al enjoyed wintering in Arizona for several years. They were both active members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Genesee and she also enjoyed providing the never ending supply of “grandma cookies”.

Her husband of over 61 years, Al, preceded her in death last December. Dayle is survived by her son, Dave (wife, Irene and daughter, Emily) of Moscow and her daughter, Peggy (husband, Jeff and daughters, Jessie Roberge and Heidi Score) of Twin Lakes, ID and great grandchildren, Avery Roberge; Maddox, Zachary and Brooks Score and another on the way!)

In addition to her husband, Dayle was also preceded in death by her parents, a great grandson, Hayden Jeffrey Score and her sisters, Ina Strain, Lois Coyner and Delores Maethe.

Viewing will be on Saturday, June 9th from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Short’s Funeral Chapel.

A family graveside service will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Genesee. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 11, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Genesee with Pastor Dana Helsing officiating.

A reception and luncheon will follow at the Genesee Senior Center.
