Gregory Russell Hurn passed away on May 4, 2018 at home surrounded his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born at Mercy Medical Center in Nampa, ID on September 14th, 1975 to George Fay and Luellen (Whitten) Hurn. He graduated from Nampa High School in 1993. He grew up in his longtime family home in Nampa, ID before moving north to Moscow, ID to attend the University of Idaho. In college, he joined the Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity where he became a brother to many lifetime brothers and friends. After graduation, he moved back to Nampa, ID to care for his parents and their business. During that time, he met and married his wife Shelby (Pratt) Hurn on April 28th, 2001. They had three children before moving to Moscow, ID in 2008 so he could attend University of Idaho Law School and obtain his Juris Doctorate. During his first year of law school their fourth child was born. He graduated in 2011 with his Juris Doctorate. After graduation, he worked for Kwate Law Office in Lewiston, ID and was well loved by the many colleagues he worked with. Greg was passionate about the law and was able to live out his childhood dream of being a lawyer.
He loved spending time with his family at the family cabin and playing with his children. Greg also loved watching baseball, hockey and football and enjoyed teaching his boys everything there is to know. His daughter is and will forever be his little princess. He enjoyed going to his children’s sporting events and cheering them on. Being their father was the greatest joy of his life.
He is survived by his wife Shelby Hurn and four children Johnathan (16), Peyton (12), Camdyn (10), and Aiden (8). He is also survived by two sisters Angela Hurn of Nampa, ID and Penny Caldwell of Idaho City, ID and her son William “LB” Thompson of Caldwell, ID, in-laws Michael and Connie Pratt of Ontario, OR, sister-in-law Emily Watkins (William) and their sons Braxton and William Jr. of Kuna, ID, and brother-in-law Paul Pratt (Magun) of Ontario, OR. Greg was preceded in death by his parents George Fay & Luellen Hurn, his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
A celebration of life will be held on May 19, 2018 from 6:30pm- 8:00pm at the 1912 Center in Moscow, ID
