Jeanne DeMeerleer

Jeanne LaVelle (Burke) DeMeerleer passed away Friday November 16, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society, Moscow Village. She Was 96.

Jeanne was born to Roy & Grace (Couch) Burke in Elma WA.  On July 3, 1922. She died in her sleep at Good Samaritan Village in Moscow ID. Nov 16, 2018 & now resides in Heaven. Jeanne was a faithful & supportive companion to Walter R. DeMeerleer for 58yrs.  Together they were the masters of making memories, especially around a campfire &always encouraged family, friends & neighbors to join along.  Their life journeys & adventures were many, filled with great fun, challenges & success. Walt & Jeanne cherished their 5 children & their spouses.  Family was the center of their life.  No one ever left hungry or unloved after being with Walt & Jeanne DeMeerleer.  Grandma Jeanne was generous & kind.  She along with friends at Parkway Presbyterian Church made handmade quilts & pillows to comfort children & people in need.  Grandma Jeanne was a vibrant person who had a smile that would light up a room & she never met a stranger.  She was a beautiful classy woman inside & out with optimism seeing her glass ½ full.  Her gardens, both vegetable & flower were loved by her hands, saying she felt closer to God as she played in the dirt.  Grandma Jeanne loved animals especially chickens, but would ring their necks if she needed to feed someone her famous homemade chicken & noodles.  A sweet welcoming Grandma, you were fortunate to visit her home of 70 years on 64th street in Tacoma WA.  She surrounded her home, which Walter built, with much love & fun.  Her cooking and canning were wonderful.  Jeanne throughout her 96yrs of life inspired people to do what was right & good, especially to your neighbors.  She always looked for the best in people, encouraging success & to keep love & hope alive.    A true gift from God.

Jeanne was proceeded in Death by her Parents- Roy & Grace Burke, Siblings-Rae C. Stedman, Roy C. Burke, Husband- Walter R. DeMeerleer, and Son- James B. DeMeerleer.

She is survived by her children Renee, Brent (Lynn), Mark (Carol), Diane (Dennis) 13 Grandchildren, 28 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren

All of Walter & Jeanne’s Children, Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren & Great-Great-Grandchildren loved calling them their own, but we were delighted to share Walt & Jeanne with you.

Jeanne would want you to enjoy the holidays & winter months with your own families… We are planning a memorial service in the spring.
