NANCY BURKE Obituary

Nancy was the fourth child of Margaret Manchego and Joseph Dolance, born in Alamo, Colorado in December 1929. She died in Pullman, Washington May 22, 2018. Her siblings were Arthur, Edward, Sally, Ellen and John. She attended one room schools in coal mining towns and attended the University of Denver. After her formal education she worked for United Airlines as a stewardess, until her marriage to Walter D. Burke in Arvada, Colorado in 1959. They lived most of their married life in California, primarily Anaheim.  They had five children: Patrick (Laura Pennington), Michael (Suzonne Beach), Margaret (Raymond Donelick), Edward (Gayle Hickey), and Timothy. Nancy loved her grandchildren Andrew, Helen, Kathryn, Eleanor, Summer, Austin, James and Michael.

After her youngest child started school Nancy, worked as an ESL teacher for the Placentia Unified School District in Orange County, California, primarily at Rio Vista School. She was an ardent collector of Depression Glass and loved finding pieces in garage sales. She was a voracious reader, and very fond of her pet cats. She was a long-time member of St. Anthony Claret and St. Norbert Parishes in Orange County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brothers Arthur and Edward, and her son Patrick.
