Peter Lewis Ford, formerly of Moscow, died peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at his home in Spokane, Washington. He was 85. Pete was born in Bellingham, Washington on September 18, 1928 to James and Alice Ford. He spent much of his childhood in Bellingham before moving to Portland, Oregon in high school where he graduated from Columbia Preparatory School. He attended the University of Portland, and he went on to a long and successful career in the retail business. Pete married Jean Sullivan on September 26, 1959 in Edison, Washington. Pete enjoyed sports, history, and woodworking, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow up. Jean preceded him in death on May 30, 2009. He is survived by his three children, Jim and wife Chandra Ford of Boise, Idaho, Sally and husband Mitch Sonnen of Woodinville, Washington, Mary and husband Jim Kimmel of Spokane, Washington. Other survivors include his five grandchildren Jack (16) and Andy (12) Ford, Aly (18) and Caroline (15) Sonnen, and Tommy (11) Kimmel. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moscow. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM with burial to follow at Moscow Cemetery. A reception and luncheon will be at St. Mary's Family Center afterward. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Mary's School Foundation, PO Box 8485, Moscow, ID 83843.
