Steven Danforth Opie, a recent Genesee resident, died Monday, November 18, 2019 at his home. He was 73.
Steven Danforth Opie was born to Stella Smith and Lester Danforth Opie in El Monte, California November 30, 1945. Steven grew up in Tooele, UT where he developed a lifelong passion for fishing.
He graduated from Excelsior High School and was drafted to service in 1968 where he served with the US Army in Vietnam.
Steve worked as a Commercial Painter for the defense industry and private homes, and retired as a Painter for a Southern California School District near his home.
Steven was married to Judith C. Simonson on June 16, 1973 in Norwalk, CA. He is survived by his sons, Jeff Chenette and Robert Opie and 5 grandchildren and sister Sandy Thomas. Steve was an avid fisherman and golfer.
At his request there will be no formal service. Please direct donations in his honor to support one of his two of his passions: (1) The Wounded Warrior Project or (2) Genesee, Idaho Fire and EMT Crew.
