Vivian Deesten Obituary

I. Vivian Deesten of Moscow died Saturday, July 26, 2014 at her home. She was 93. Vivian was born January 4, 1921 in Tucson, Arizona to Roy and Effa (Hurst) Ayers. She attended the first grade in Lewiston Orchards in Lewiston and the rest of her education in Clarkston, WA, graduating from Clarkston High School in 1939. She then attended Lewis State Normal School in Lewiston until her marriage to Martin C. "Bud" Deesten on April 13, 1941 at Boise. They made their home South of Moscow where they owned a farm and lived their entire lives. She was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church all of her married life. She enjoyed reading, traveling and visiting with her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, particularly her flowers. She and Bud raised five children and were married 71 years prior to his death in 2012. Surviving are her son, Gary Deesten of Moscow and daughters, Marlene Crow of Colbert, WA, Denise Bohman of Troy and Janene Lucht of Reardon, WA along with 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Deesten Carrico in 2009 and a brother, Lewis Ayers. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Moscow Cemetery with a private graveside service on August 2, 2014. This will be followed by a memorial service in the fall. Viewing will be from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Thursday and Friday at Short's Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
