Benjamin Isaac Brown left this world peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on Wednesday, May 29th after a long battle with brain cancer.
Ben entered the world on July 16th, 1991 in Arlington, WA to parents Rich and Dawn Marie Brown. He spent his youth in the town of Darrington, WA where he was known as an independent, precocious child who found never ending entertainment in his boundless imagination.
Ben went on to attend Kettle Falls High School where he graduated in 2009, before going on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Idaho. It was during his time there that Ben became enamored with Moscow and the surrounding area and began to build his life there.
Ben was an avid outdoorsman, who loved all that the Pacific Northwest had to offer. He found great joy in hunting, fishing, river-rafting & snowboarding. He could be found most summers at the family’s property on the Chain Lakes, swimming, boating and creating lasting memories with his family & friends.
Ben had a kind, generous, thoughtful soul. He gave friendship and compassion freely, lived his life fully and without reservation and had a cheeky smile that warmed the hearts of so many. He was the kind of person who could befriend anyone with his joyful, compassionate manner, and he was fiercely loyal to those lucky enough to call him friend.
After graduation, Ben worked around the country for brief stints in places like Brush, Colorado & New York City, dabbling in both Fisheries & the Film Industry. But before long, Ben returned to Moscow to begin his career at Northwest River Supplies in 2015. Here he forged life-long friendships with an eclectic group of like-minded people, passionate about the outdoors. It was also here, where Ben met and fell in love with his best friend, Lauren Heryford, who, after six years, he went on to marry on March 21st, 2023, officially signing their marriage certificates at the Breakfast Club in Moscow.
Ben was taken from us far too soon, but he touched the lives of so many during that short time. He will be remembered by all as a uniquely free-spirit. He was a Husband, a Son, a Brother and most of all friend to all.
Ben is survived by his Wife, Parents, Brother, two beloved Dogs, Grandparents and many, many loving Aunts, Uncles & Cousins.
Donations in Ben’s memory can be made to https://profile.pmc.org/FB0028 which raises funds for the Dana-Farber Cancer institute, without which Ben would not have been able to extend his treatment through clinical trials. 100% of the funds will be used to fight Cancer. As such, Ben will continue to serve and save others forever, through the research that his memory makes possible.
