Robert A. Ramsay

Robert Arthur Ramsay was born December 3, 1973 in Vancouver, WA to Donald Ramsay, and Mary Freeman. He is survived by his wife Samantha and two sons, Ryan (11), Reidar (8), his parents, his brother Matthew, and other immediate family. Rob was an incredibly loving father, husband, and friend. He demonstrated humility, generosity, kindness, and a general respect for all those around him. As a glioblastoma multiforme brain cancer survivor, he persevered and beat the odds to live 14 years after his diagnosis. Upon diagnosis in 2002, he had two craniotomies, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, all of whichresulted in occasional seizures. On August 4th, he had a seizure which resulted in his death. Rob received his Bachelor's Degree from Washington State University and played Cougar baseball. He went on to play professional baseball for eight years, two of which were with the Seattle Mariners. After retiring from baseball, he taught secondary education for three years and earned his Master's Degree from the University of Idaho. For the last four years he has been a stay at home father, enjoying time with his sons and supporting his wife. Grateful for the opportunity to fulfill his dream of playing major league baseball, he knew how to live in the moment and cherish each day. He loved golfing, fishing, hunting, and any other outdoor activities. Family meant everything to him and he was thankful to have met the love of his life. He enjoyed traveling and activities with his wife and two young boys, and truly knew how to live in the moment. He touched many lives, and all who knew him have fond memories and many stories. He is like no other, loved by all who have known him, and will be greatly missed.
