Allan N. Carson

Allan Newnan Carson of Moscow left this earthy place on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Gritman Medical Center. He was 90. Allan was born on February 26, 1926 in Colfax, WA to Newnan T. and Nita Marie Guthrie Carson. He grew up and attended a Country grade school, Moscow Jr. and Senior High Schools, graduating in 1944. He joined the Army and served a 15 month tour of duty in Europe. Following his discharge, he returned to Moscow, enrolled and graduated from the University of Idaho. Allan began his working career as a CPA for a Potlatch Car Dealership. This transitioned into an accounting and programing position at Bunker Hill Co. in Kellogg, ID until 1975. From there he returned to Moscow and took a computer programming position at Washington State University, retiring in 1991. His retirement years were filled with traveling to historic places, visiting with family and tinkering. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting stamps and coins. He served as a Scout Den Leader and helped train Scout Masters. He coached women's softball and little leagues. Allan's appearance at family events will be greatly missed. He married MayBelle Gardner at the First Baptist Church in Boise on June 17, 1951. She survives at their Moscow home along with a daughter, Shaun Dell Carson of Moscow and a son, Brian A. Carson in Scottsdale, AZ and three grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Wayne Carson of Lewiston and Larry Carson of Juliaetta. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anne Nordby and a grandson, Brennan. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 6th at the Moscow Cemetery with Military Honors, and Pastor Norman Fowler of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. The family suggests memorials to the Moscow Food Bank or to a charity of the donor's choice.
