Annie Redinger

Anna Marie Redinger, known and loved by many as Annie, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved her most. Mom was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind a family who will always remember her love, kindness, and the way she made everyone feel welcome.

Annie was born on July 23, 1930, the youngest of 12 to Nick and Anna Dahmen of Uniontown, Washington. Rumor has it her older sisters may have come from a local establishment to flag down the stork.

On June 12, 1949, at Sunday Mass, she married the love of her life, Don Redinger. Dad would say he found the “right little girl” and married her. Together, they raised seven children: Steve, Jim(Vickie), Dan(Debbie), JoAnne(Dave), Tom(Meghan), Barb(Jeff), and David(Michelle). Their home was a place where family, friends, and neighbors were always welcome. The front door was open, and there was always room for someone to stop by for a conversation, a visit, or a place to stay.

Annie had a special way with children. She loved holding babies, comforting children, listening to their stories, and watching them grow. She was blessed with her 7 children, 17 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren (with another expected in October), and nothing made her happier than spending time with them. Their visits, stories, laughter, and attending their events, whether they were down the street or a lengthy drive, brought her so much joy. She also loved her many nieces, nephews, and countless neighborhood kids who came through her door over the years. They all knew there were cookies or dumdum suckers for their taking.

Annie was a woman of strong Catholic faith. She trusted in God and found strength in her faith throughout her life. She was an eternal optimist who believed things would work out and that anything was possible with faith, courage, and trust in God and a prayer to St. Anthony. Mom encouraged us all to do the same.

More than anything, Mom loved her family. She was the heart of our family gatherings and the person we all knew we could count on. She created a home filled with love, faith, laughter, and open doors. We will all miss her deeply and are grateful for the many years, memories, and love we shared with her.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, with a Mass celebrated Thursday, September 10, at 11 a.m. at St Mary’s Church, 618 E. First St, Moscow, Idaho. A reception will follow for all at the Redinger home, 1029 Virginia, Moscow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Annie's name to a local youth program of your choice.
