Tony Singleton (age 84) passed away November 27, 2025, with his wife by his side.
Tony was born on January 20, 1941, in Grantham, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom. He was raised in Grantham with a younger brother, Terry, by his parents Stan and Evelyn (Olive) Singleton.
He went to the Kings Grammar School in Grantham (always wearing a school uniform) until the age of 16 when he went to be an apprentice with the UK Kontak Manufacturing Company. Tony was granted a UK patent in the late 1960’s for a control valve with this company which is still manufactured and sold today.
Tony is survived by his wife, Sharon, of the home in Moscow, Idaho. Tony and Sharon married in 1999, when Tony came to the United States on a fiancé visa. He is also survived by two sons: Jonathan (Spain), Neil and his wife Becky of London, UK, his two grandchildren Abe and Lily Singleton (Spain), his brother, Terry and wife Jacqueline (UK), and his first wife Susan Singleton (UK).
In UK, Tony owned and operated ASC Fluid Power in Sedgebrook, UK (a hydraulics engineering company). He started this business in 1976. His most significant achievement was the design, manufacture, and on-site assembly of his largest test rig in Shanghai for a Tunnelling Company in China.
Tony’s activities in the US included camping with friends at Meadow Creek and surrounding areas, as well as having a business of repairing sewing machines and making rug frames. In his retirement years, Tony began RVing as a snowbird to Yuma Arizona for 13 years, as well as attending and volunteering for Moscow’s Friendly Neighbors organization in the 1912 Center. Tony’s biggest enjoyment was being in his workshop (building and repairing everything and anything for family and friends). His tools and workshop were his pride and joy. His first venture was building a motorized trolley called Little Moe (named after the American tennis star) at the age of 14. The last big job he did was to design and build an elevator outside his home to gain access to the upper floor.
A celebration of life will be held in the family home later in the spring of 2026.
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending charitable donations in memory of Tony to Friendly Neighbors. 421 East Third, Moscow, Idaho, 83843.
