Arlene K. Willenborg Cowin

Arlene Kathryn Willenborg Cowin of Moscow died Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Gritman Medical Center. She was 66 Arlene was born November 25, 1950 in Cottonwood to John F. and Loretta A. (Seubert) Willenborg. She grew up there, attending and graduating from St. Gertrude Academy. She then enrolled at Lewis-Clark State College Nursing program, graduating as a registered nurse. Arlene also attended the University of Texas - Arlington. She spent most of her nursing career in the Mini-Cassia area, working at Cassia Memorial Hospital in Burley, also at Oakley, Rupert and later in home health. She moved back north, first Clarkston and then Moscow in 2005 to be closer to her family. She worked for a time at Gritman Medical Center as a case manager prior to her retirement. She and George Theodore "Ted" Cowin were married at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Moscow in August of 2006. He preceded her in death in April of this year. Arlene was a long time member of the Order of Eastern Star, was a Girl Scout Leader and Assistant Troop Leader for the Boy Scouts and served as the "camp nurse" for the Boy Scouts. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, active in the Cancer Society, enjoyed horseback riding, quilting, hiking, camping, fishing and the outdoors. Arlene also taught CPR and First Aid classes and bred, loved and raised Boxer dogs. She participated in the Relay for Life and will be remembered for her exceptional baking abilities. She is survived by her children, Garrett (Eleanor) Jones, Katie (Donald) Dunlap and Kathryn Harder and grandchildren, William, Elaine, Jaevin and Everett, all of Moscow. She also leaves her siblings, Terry (Inez) Willenborg of Lewiston, Barbara Myers of Weippe, JoAnn (Eugene) McHugh of Cottonwood, Laura (Michael) Willenborg-Johnson of Lewiston and Tommy Willenborg of Cottonwood. The family will hold a private service and memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
