Jacob Kenneth Douglas, age 44, passed away suddenly on October 10, 2026. Known to almost everyone simply as Beau, he was so recognizable by his nickname that many were genuinely surprised to learn his actual name was Jacob, often assuming it was an alias.

A man of extraordinary empathy and quiet generosity, Beau discovered a true passion for farming in his late twenties. He embraced every part of farm life, regarding coming home covered in dirt as the mark of a job well done. The farmers he worked for appreciated his dedication so much that they looked on him like family. Driving farm equipment provided hours for his insatiable curiosity, allowing him to listen to audiobooks and build a wealth of knowledge on countless subjects. One such path led him to successfully teach his cat, Buster, how to use the toilet.

Beau’s humor, intellect, and affection were constantly woven into his daily interactions with his family. He loved engaging in spirited debates with his dad, where he was undoubtedly proven to be right and his dad would have to laughingly admit, "He got me again." As he farmed the ground near their house and his route took him past his parents' home, he would wave and sign "I love you." His playful nature was evident with his phone calls to his mother. Each would end with an exchange of "See you later, alligator" and "After a while, crocodile," and then the race to see who could be the very last one to say, "I love you more."

In his downtime, Beau enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: playing video games, watching movies, listening to music, and harboring a lifelong dream of one day living on a sailboat after road-tripping across the country on his motorcyle. These passions were shared in the life with his partner, Lisa. They loved cooking together as he would act as her trusty sous chef. The evenings would be spent watching anime and adventuring through video games where she served as his dedicated navigator.

Family was important to Beau and that extended to his niece and nephews. He was an amazing uncle that enjoyed playing games and spending time with them. To his niece Jailyn and nephew Cade, he was affectionately known as "Junka Beau," and whenever he left his sister Kathy’s home, he would part with a heartfelt "te amo" — meaning I love you. He also shared a special bond with his nephew Chase, introducing him to Panda Express—which became Chase’s favorite restaurant—and spending time watching shows and playing Knack together. After Kathy's family introduced Beau to camping and floating the Selway River, everyone was always so happy when he joined them each summer. Those annual trips were made even more special when Chase also got to go. They all enjoyed sharing quiet early mornings around the campfire.

Above all else, Beau was a remarkably caring son, brother, uncle, partner, and friend.

He is survived by his parents, David and Karen; his sister, Kathy, and brother-in-law, Craig; his beloved partner, Lisa; his nephews Chase and Cade; and his niece Jailyn. He is preceded in death by his sister, Jessica.

A celebration of Beau’s life will be held on October 22, 2026, at Short’s Funeral Home at 11 AM.
