Benning F. Jenness, of Moscow, Idaho died Monday June 1, 2015 at his Moscow home. He was born to George Benning Jr. and Erna Franke Jenness in Woodland, California on July 31, 1935. Schooling began in the one room Clover School near Madison, California, continued at Esparato High School, University of California at Davis and he graduated from the University of Idaho in 1958 with a degree in Forestry. Patricia L. Brownell and Ben were married in Moscow, Idaho on August 10, 1956. He worked for Boise Cascade Corp. in Emmett, Idaho, the University of Washington in Seattle and retired in 1998 from Washington State University after 25 years. During the work years, Ben was in the Idaho Army National Guard and served on school and hospital boards. He was president of the University Risk and Insurance Management Association in 1991 and was selected as Risk Manager of the year in 1994. In retirement, Ben was active in The Episcopal Church, community bands, model railroading and he farmed trees for resources. Ben is survived by Pat, his wife, daughters Katharine Jacobson (Sam), Deanna Jenness (Lesa Homer) and son David Jenness (Janet), five grandchildren, one great-grandson; two brothers; Richard and Thomas and a sister, Nancy Patton. His parents and a son Phillip died earlier. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday June 6, 2015 at St. James Episcopal Church in Pullman, with The Rev. Robin Biffle, Rector of St. Mark's Episcopal Church presiding. Ben requests that no flowers be sent and no one wear black but ALL wear bright colors.
