Elizabeth "Bette" June Hoskins of Moscow passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on March 20, 2016 at the Hospice House of North Idaho in Coeur d'Alene. She was 87. The eldest of six, Bette was born to Howard Edward Holmes Sr. and Marla June Lawson on August 4th, 1928 in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. She graduated from Eisenhower High School in Yakima, Washington and later attended Washington State College to study music. She met her husband, Jerome "Butch" Hoskins in high school and they married on December 31st, 1949 in Yakima, Washington. The couple had four children: Steve, Marla, Scott and Jim. Jerry passed away in 2007 while they were living in LaGrande, Oregon. After 40 years in LaGrande, Bette moved to Moscow to be closer to family. Bette enjoyed traveling and vacationing with her family at the Oregon Coast, knitting, gardening, baking, playing piano and listening to classical music and opera, and walking her dogs. Bette also loved to serve her church families, both in LaGrande at St. Peter's Episcopal Church and at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Moscow. Bette's generosity and sense of humor touched everyone she came across. Her commitment to friends and family will be felt across generations. Bette is survived by her younger brother, Howard Holmes Jr.; half-sisters Cheryl and Rose; son Steve and wife Dana; daughter Marla and companion Mark; son Scott and wife Mary; son Jim and wife Heidi; grandchildren Steve Jr., Britt, Carly, Brooke, Sarah, Kelsey and Trent; great-grandchildren Kyler, Kaiden, Kellen, Kai and Noah; great great grandson, Emerson, and her dog, Lenny. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Gritman Hospital, Kootenai Health and Hospice House of Coeur d' Alene for their gentle care and kindness to Bette and family in their time of need. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2016 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Moscow.
