Betty Ann Barnett of Moscow died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Gritman Medical Center. She was 61. Betty was born August 10, 1954 in Oneonta, New York. Her parents were Richard and Margaret Yeary Dougherty. She grew up and attended schools graduating from high school there. She moved to Washington in the early 1980's and was married to James Thomas Barnett in Yakima in 1983. They made their home in Richland, and he died in March of 1993. She moved to Quincy, WA in 1994, to Spokane in 1999 and to Moscow in 2009. Betty enjoyed playing bingo, doing arts and crafts, doll collecting, writing poetry and helping others. She is survived by her mother, Margaret Dougherty in New York, her children, Matthew Griffin of Moscow, Angie and Ramona Griffin, both in Georgia, Amanda MacDonald in Moscow and step-children, Roseanna Cameron in George, WA, Becky Barnett of Benton City, WA, Kevin and James Barnett both of Ephrata, WA. She also leaves her siblings, Mark (Eileen) Dougherty, Cindy (Edward) Maciatek , Lisa (John) Townsend, Richard (Donna) Dougherty, Andrew (Diana) Dougherty, Matthew (Danielle) Dougherty along with numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father. Memorial services are pending in Moscow as well as in New York.
