Beverly Helen Krauss
April 3, 1930 — May 16, 2026
Beverly (Bev) Helen Krauss passed away on Saturday, May 16th, 2026.
Mom was born in McAllister, Montana to Maurice McDowell and Myrtle (Schabarker) McDowell on April 3, 1930. She had three brothers, Lloyd, Fay and Jack. Mom met her future husband and our dad, Roy shortly after he returned from WWII and they were married on August 1, 1947.
Mom and dad lived in Spokane, WA while he attended Kinman Business College. They lived in Wenatchee for a short time then returned to Spokane. In 1954, the family moved to Moscow, Idaho and joined William H. Martin in the creation of Martin Tire, later known as Martin’s Auto Service Center. Mom worked there a number of years as the bookkeeper. Mom also worked for J.C. Penny, Modern Way Grocery, the Latah County Extension Office as secretary and finally as bookkeeper for a cabinet shop. Bev and Roy shared 68 years of marriage and dedication to family.
Mom was an avid bowler and later on over to play golf. Mom and dad sponsored yearly vacation golf tournaments every summer and invited many of their friends to join them. Mom also enjoyed Pinochle and especially Bridge. Other activities over the years included time spent at the family lake cabin, water skiing and of course she loved the holidays, especially Halloween! She loved hosting Halloween parties!
Mom was devoted to her family. She loved having everyone over for family functions and visiting about how everyone was doing, what activities the kids were involved in and reminiscing on memories, the details of which they could recall from decades ago.
Mom volunteered her time with the Nazarene Clothing Bank (later to become the Hope Center), the Latah County Humane Society, the Moose Lodge and of course our local Elks Lodge.
Mom was a true believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was baptized many years ago and a long-time member of the Moscow Church of the Nazarene. Thank you to the Pastors and members of the Nazarene Church for all their prayers.
Bev was preceded in death by Roy in 2015 and her brothers Lloyd McDowell (Alice Mae), Fay McDowell (Darlene), and Jack McDowell (Alice). He is survived by her son Wayne Krauss (Gail), Moscow, Maurece Krauss Vulcano (Dave, deceased), Spokane. Grandchildren, Travis Krauss (Sandia) in Michigan, Jason Krauss (Sandra) in Spokane, Angie Vulcano in Spokane. Great grandchildren Ridge Krauss (Amanda), Texas, Olivia Krauss, Alaska, Semira Krauss, Arizona, Zayden Vulcano, Spokane, and numerous nieces and nephews, all who will carry on her memory.
A heart felt Thanks goes out to Bishop Place of Pullman for taking such great care of mom for the last four years and especially to Gentiva Hospice for being so attentive to her needs. You all made her life so much easier over the last few months.
The graveside service will be held at he Moscow City Cemetery on May 12th at 11am for family and friends to say a final goodbye.
