Bradley Williams

June 21, 1960 — May 23, 2015

Brad was born to Leonard Keith and Diane Eleanor (nee Barrett) Williams on June 21, 1960 in Plainfield, New Jersey. He passed away on May 23, 2015 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho after a brief illness. The family moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma in 1973. Brad graduated from Ardmore High School in 1978. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in animal science and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University. After receiving his DVM, he practiced mixed-animal medicine at the Ardmore Veterinary Clinic. He married Janet Elizabeth Garrett on October 10, 1987 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He followed his bride to Moscow in 1987 where she was employed as a researcher at the University of Idaho; Brad worked in the Department of Biological Sciences. In 1989 they moved to Louisiana State University where Brad was a resident in its laboratory animal program. In 1990, he once again followed his bride back to Moscow where he took a position at Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine working in the intensive care unit. Soon thereafter, Brad practiced small animal medicine at the Southway Animal Clinic in Lewiston, Idaho until accepting the position of Campus Veterinarian at the University of Idaho in 1993. In this role, Brad worked diligently to ensure that animal research was conducted ethically, legally, and purposefully for the benefit of both animals and humanity. For several years, Brad also served as the university's research compliance officer, overseeing the integrity of the entire research enterprise of the institution. His duties required him to travel across Idaho. Brad retired in 2014. Brad loved spending time with his family and friends, golfing, playing euchre, and working on his computer. He was highly proficient with all aspects of computing and used those skills as Systems Administrator as part of his university duties, as well as assisting with the computer systems at Emmanuel Lutheran Church where he also served as treasurer. Brad is survived by his mother, two brothers, Blake Alan (Christy) Williams and Jeffrey Keith Benjamin (Debra Ellen Schaefer) Williams, wife Janet, daughter Casey Marie, son Corey Garrett, and 18 nieces and nephews. His father preceded him in death. His memorial service will be Wednesday, May 27, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 1036 West "A" Street, Moscow, at 11 a.m., the Reverend David Daugs, presiding. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, you may send a memorial in Brad's name to Emmanuel Lutheran Church for subsequent distribution to organizations that advocate for youth through golf.
