Bruce Hoff

Bruce Hoff, 53, a long-time resident of Moscow, Idaho died on May 30 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash. after suffering from a stroke two days prior. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by many of his loving family members. Bruce was born December 6, 1963 in Pullman, Wash. to Ray and Kay Hoff. He was raised in Moscow, Idaho and graduated from Moscow High School in 1982. He also attended the University of Idaho where he studied physics and engineering. Bruce worked for many years as a bicycle mechanic in several local area shops, but most recently at B & L Bicycles in Pullman. He wanted everyone on a bike, and loved helping people find just the right one. The more bikes he could get you to try, the bigger the smile on his face. A person with many interests and a love for life, you could often find Bruce biking on a trail, rock climbing including Chimney Rock in North Idaho, skiing down the hill at Schweitzer, spending time at the family place in Sandpoint, or in almost any type of boat on the water (as long as it had a paddle and not a motor). He also enjoyed woodworking and used hand tools to build many things including a sailboat. Bruce was an avid reader, and because he could remember almost everything he read, you knew there would always be interesting and often lively conversation. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved playing board games, and was a delight to his family and friends. But most of all, Bruce really cared about others. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to have crossed his path. Bruce is survived by his long-time partner, Holli Cooper of Moscow, Idaho; father and stepmother, Ray and Bettie Hoff of Moscow, Idaho; brother Doral (Jodi) Hoff of Lewiston, Idaho; stepsister Marcia (Jeff) Gossard of Pullman, Wash.; and stepsister, Shelley Hill of Napa, Calif. He is also survived by his niece and nephews Magda and Brysen Hoff of Lewiston, Idaho, and Julian Gossard of Pullman, Wash., and his stepdaughters Shannon Poirier of Sequim, Wash., Marie, Renee and Allie Sita of Moscow, Idaho, as well as two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kay, in 1978. Bruce was well known in the local bicycling community and volunteered many hours over the years with the Latah Trail Foundation, including serving on their board.
