Carol Ann Stein (Paulick) was born to Margaret Teresa and Walter Steven Paulick on September 14, 1941, in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. She later moved with her parents and younger brother, Wally, to Hollywood, Florida, where she graduated from South Broward High School in Fort Lauderdale in 1961. That same year, on May 13th, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Jim Stein.
A devoted wife and mother, Carol cherished time with her family and took many memorable road trips out West. In 1974, Jim and Carol moved their family to Spokane, where she attended Spokane Falls Community College. After living in Washington and Alaska throughout the 1980s and 1990s, they settled in Moscow, Idaho, in 1997.
Carol lovingly cared for her husband, Jim, during his battle with cancer. She found joy in conversations with friends and family and took special delight in decorating her home for the holidays. Carol had a fondness for White Castle hamburgers and pierogies and enjoyed collecting stuffed animals. Her faith and devotion to Jesus Christ brought her great comfort and strength. Carol was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Moscow, Idaho. She is survived by her three children: James Stein III, Gregory Stein, and Patricia Reed, and granddaughter Haley Reed.
A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at the Moscow Cemetery.
