Charles "Chuck" Crossler

We believe that Everyone of us is called to do something on this earth with the gifts God has given us. Chuck’s gift was Community.

Chuck never met a stranger and he knew everyone! He would stop at Rosauers For 5 min to pickup a prescription and that would turn into an hour long endeavor.

He was the third generation Crossler to graduate Moscow High School in 1969. Was a resident of the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department and was on the ambulance crew for many years.

Chuck spent time at the U of I and decided to pursue his art of photography with his mentor Ted Cowin and later on teaming up with Scott Hanford to open Image Studios. He later went on to work with his friend Roger And brother Tom at City North American. After that, he worked as a Realtor and then he ended his working career and retired as a senior assembler at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories.

In retirement, Chuck joined the Moscow Lions Club and became very active serving. He also was a member of the daytime bowling league at Zeppoz and loved the challenge of getting better. Chuck loved people and socializing was his specialty.

Chuck also was a life long Boy Scout. From being involved as a child to leading Pack 323 and troop 345 for over 40 years. He was a mentor and helped 50 boys achieve their rank of Eagle over the years. He always fondly spoke about his trips to the National Scout Jamboree, trip to Philmont, and many other outdoor adventures. He made lifelong friends that still meet up for coffee on a regular basis.

Chuck loved his family. He seldom missed a sporting event or band concert for his son Marcus and his grandkids. He was the one member of the family that kept track of everyone. When someone would ask whose kids belonged to who, he would always know the answer. He loved spending time with his family and friends around a campfire, a meal, or just over a cup of coffee.

Chuck was proceed in death by his parents, Dick and Royleen Crossler, and his brother Tom Crossler. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Jo of Viola.  His Son Marcus, daughter in-law Lindsay and Grandkids Austin and Mariah Crossler of Pullman.

Viewing will be Wednesday March 13th from 11:00-1:00 at Shorts Funeral Chapel

Funeral will be Monday March 18th at 11:00am at the Moscow First United Methodist Church.  Burial to follow at the Viola cemetery. Potluck dinner at the Viola Community Center after the burial.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Chuck’s name to the Moscow Central Lions Club.
