Charles Randle

April 9, 1931 — December 3, 2025

Charles Randle, a cherished figure in his community, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, at the age of 94 in Pullman, Washington.

Born in Colfax to Lloyd and Dorothy Randle on April 9, 1931. Charles, "Chuck" spent his early years in Pullman, Clarkston and eventually Moscow where he graduated from High school in 1949. He started working at the Potlatch lumber mill until drafted during the Korean war. His service was mostly in Japan until his discharge in 1953. In those times draftees were guaranteed placement at the position vacated on return from service. Chuck often chuckled while telling the story that management had changed during that period so he "fibbed" slightly and returned to a more favorable position. His stories of the "company town" and hardships of those times were enlightening and always interesting.

His father had a deep history in meat processing in the Lewiston/Clarkston valley and eventually in Moscow. "Slaughterhouse" was the term he always used. The last facility was along Pullman/Moscow highway adjacent to the University of Idaho ballfields. It was with that history the meat processing and frozen storage business C and L Lockers (Chuck and Lloyd} was started north of Moscow city limits in 1973.

There could be no discussion about Chuck without mention of trapshooting. A lifetime member of the NRA, Amateur Trapshooting Association, Colton Gun Club, and the now defunct Pullman and Lewiston Gun clubs. ATA records show he shot over 250,000 registered targets throughout the Northwest. He was inducted into the Idaho Hall of fame and was a member the All American Trapshooting team as a Senior Veteran in 2005.

Chuck had no immediate family though he talked of an Uncle that was present in the 60s and a cousin he remembered meeting shortly after his discharge from the Army. In 2020 a friendship/care relationship started with Brian and Sis Windsor as he asked if Brian would be able to provide transportation to and from the eye doctor. This friendship became "family" as they shared Chuck with their families at every occasion. He would make many "day trips" as he lost the ability to drive. Most notable was the trip through the Buck Knife factory. He was an avid knife collector and almost emptied the display case in the Store/showroom at the end of the tour.

Pets, most notably dogs were very close to his heart. If there is reincarnation, the best would be to return as Chucks dog. With that in mind any memorials would or should be directed toward the local animal shelters.

Family and friends are invited to honor Charles during a graveside service on December 16, 2025, at Pullman City Cemetery, located at 500 Fairmount Drive, Pullman, WA 99163. The service will begin at 1:00 PM and conclude at 2:00 PM.

As we remember Charles Randle, we celebrate a man whose contributions to his family, community, and passions have left an enduring legacy. His spirit will continue to resonate with all who had the honor of knowing him.

A memorial gathering and luncheon will be held at the Colton gun club at a later day
