Charles Royce

Charles Edward Royce, Jr. passed away at his home Thursday, April 16, 2015 after a heroic fight with cancer. He was 55. Chuck was born December 20, 1959 in Cottonwood, Arizona. He grew up and went to school in Tucson, graduating from Tucson High School. He enjoyed working at his grandpa's camera store throughout high school, expanding on his passion and experience in photography. In 1978, Chuck joined the US Navy serving as a radar operator for two years. Due to an accident, he was medically retired in 1980. Following his discharge in Bremerton, WA, he attended Bellevue Community College, graduating with his Associate of Arts Degree in Photography. Chuck began working for Washington State University in 1987, where he met the love of his life, Sharon. They dated for four years and were married on Kamiak Butte on July 10, 1993. Chuck was a devoted and loving father to David, Sandra, and Carly. He was the photography supervisor in the Bio-Medical Communications Unit in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the time of his death. In his 27 years with BCU, Chuck embraced his coworkers and everyone who entered the door with a smile, good humor, and the highest quality of service. Chuck was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and enjoyed watching sports, hunting, fishing, traveling, photography and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Ennis) Royce. Also surviving are his daughters, Sandra (Jess) Izzo of Viola and Carly Royce of Seattle; his mother, Jane (Glenn) Juell of Tucson; sisters, Claudia Jane Anderson of San Diego and Heather (Rodney) Carlson in Tucson; brothers, David (Aimee) Juell and Paul (Antonella) Juell both in Tucson; and his grandchildren, Emily, Tyson and Jase. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Royce, Sr., and a son, David Spratling. A memorial service to celebrate Chuck's life will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Moscow with a reception at the church following. Pastor Scott Kinder-Pyle will officiate. Per Chuck's request, donations may be made to the local Gentiva Hospice.
