Cheryl L. Knauss

Cheryl Lynn Knauss 80, died January 1, 2026 of unknown causes. Leaving her husband, Donald Knauss, of Moscow, Ud and niece Kim Polan of Kingston, IL.

Cheryl was born July 31, 1945 in Green Vally, IL to Roy and Zilma entering of Pekin, IL, graduating from Pekin High School in June 1963.

After graduation she went to college but did not graduate. In august of 1966 Cheryl joined the U.S. Army WAC. After basic training, she took upon medical training at For Sam Houston. After graduating she was deployed to Germany and Served as a Combat Medic. Her last post was Army 5th General Hospital caring for injured, retiring home, Vietnam Veterans. After Cheryl’s honorable discharge she joined the Illinois Air-force National Guard. Cheryl served in the U.S. Military for 12 years. Once she left the military, Cheryl worked in the medical field until her retirement in 1997.

Cherly met her husband, Donald Knauss in May 1993 at a VietNow Meeting. They married June 10, 1995 in Peoria, IL and residents in Elgin, IL until they moved to Moscow, ID, in 2000. They returned to Illinois in 2004 to be closer to family. Don and Cheryl moved back to Moscow, ID in 2007 after the death of her sister, Barbara. Where Cheryl lived until her death.

Cheryl loved horses and cats; having many throughout her life. She enjoyed crafting, diamond painting and abstract acrylic painting and canvas. She enjoyed gardening in. Her latter years. She was loved by many and will be missed.

A memorial service will be held January 22, 2026 at 1:00p.m. at the Latter-Day Saints Church, 1657 S. Blaine St, Moscow, ID. Short’s Funeral Chapel is in charge of making arrangements.
