Christopher Gene Hyde began a new adventure on August 29, 2024, as he passed away surrounded by his loved ones. He was born to Gene and Mary Hyde on April 2, 1959, in Niagara Falls, NY and lived in many places across the US throughout his life. During his time on Earth, he was a devoted husband to his wife Janine and loving father to his children Gene Robert and Romana Jo.
He was a true renaissance man, with various careers and hobbies throughout his life. Chris and Janine met while working in the forest service in the 1980’s and later married in 1987. He went on to complete a Computer Science degree at the University of Idaho in 1993 and worked as a software engineer until his death. Chris enjoyed hiking, working on cars, and remodeling houses. He was an avid reader and writer who loved stories and considered learning a lifelong endeavor. He shared a love of movies and Japanese animation with his children.
Chris was also a prolific supporter of small artists and charitable causes. He volunteered for many different organizations throughout his life. He was on the board of directors for a private school in Spokane, Washington for several years and became a Poll Worker in Moscow, Idaho later in life. He volunteered for many decades with Spokane Public Radio and First Lego League and continued to do so until his death. Chris was preceded in death by his father and sister Leslie. He is survived by his wife, children, mother, and sisters Suzen and Nannette.
Chris was widely beloved and will be missed dearly. His spirit of kindness, curiosity, and care for others is carried on by his loved ones. You can also donate to one of the following organizations: American Cancer Society, The Nature Conservancy, or Spokane Public Radio.
