D. Craig Hays

D. Craig Hays of Bovill died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Tri-State Memorial Hospital in Clarkston. He was 54. Craig was born July 10, 1960 in Moscow to Donald S. and Diana Waldron Hays. He grew up and lived all of his life in Bovill, graduating from Deary High School. He started working weekends logging with his dad at the age of 12. In 1983, Craig went to work for Bob Shook as a sawyer. In 1986 he went to work for Steve Henderson Logging sawing until 2003 when he switched to running a processor. In the spring of 2013 Craig ran a processor for Mark Merrell until January of 2014 when ill health forced him to quit working. Craig enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was camping, fishing, hunting, riding 4-wheelers and mountain drives with family and friends. Craig loved his family and enjoyed every minute with them, including his six grandchildren. On March 19, 1983 Craig and Lucy Winter were married at the Deary Community Church. She survives at their home in Bovill. He is also survived by his son Christopher and his wife Brandy of Moscow, a son Donnie of Bovill and a brother Roger and his wife Sally of Orofino, his six grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Diana Hays. A Memorial Potluck Dinner will be Saturday, March 7th at the Bovill School beginning at 11:00 A.M. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Joseph Cancer Center in Lewiston.
