Darrel Comstock

July 4, 1922 — March 2, 2017

Our dear husband and father, Darrell "Bruce" Comstock, sat down in his favorite chair and peacefully went to sleep and walked into his heavenly Father's arms. Bruce was born in the family home in Palouse, WA to George and Wayve Comstock on July 4, 1922. He enjoyed his childhood on the family farm with his brothers Jerry and Don. He married his high school sweetheart, Helen Styer, on September 6, 1942. Together they had three sons, Douglas, Ken and Landy. Their family was complete when they adopted their daughter Cindy. Bruce served honorably in World War II and returned home to farm. Bruce farmed beside his brother Don along with his dad and son for more than 40 years. He retired in 1984 and spent the next 25 years traveling and snowbirding in Apache Junction, Arizona. Helen and Bruce moved to Moscow in 2012 and lived at the Good Samaritan Fairview Village until his death. Bruce was an active member of Palouse Christian Church and later of the Potlatch Presbyterian congregation. He served both churches as an elder. He is survived by his wife of 74 years Helen, his brother Don, three sons Douglas, Ken (Barbara), and Landy (Nancy), 12 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Gilmore and a brother, Jerry. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 6th at Shorts Funeral Chapel in Moscow, Idaho. The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
