Dave Winn of Troy died at his home with his family on Wednesday June 17, 2015. He was 83. Dave was born March 23, 1932, in Stockton, California, to Clarence and Doris Williams Winn. He attended grade school in Stockton. When his parents moved to Sonora, California, he attended a one-room schoolhouse at Ward's Ferry. He graduated high school at Sonora. Dave married his high school sweetheart, Audrey Jean Collins, on September 9, 1950, at Sonora. They had four boys. Audrey passed in 1984 after 33 years of marriage. He initially served in the Army National Guard of California from April 1949 to April 1952 attaining the rank of Corporal. After numerous jobs in the lumber industry, he enlisted in the US Air Force in Dec 1952 and served honorably for twenty years, retiring in Dec 1972, with the rank of Technical Sergeant. His tours included California, Bermuda, Idaho, Italy, Greenland, and various deployments during the Vietnam War. His troops admired and respected him. He worked for Potlatch Corporation from 1973-1993. In August 1991, Dave was blessed to marry Lois Charbonneau, and to his passing, lived a very happy and prosperous life with his family. Dave and Lois spent lots of time traveling, boating, skiing, and square-dancing, doing whatever they could outdoors, and volunteering their time, and talents to those in need. He will be missed by the many people he has touched throughout his life. Dave is survived by his wife of 24 years Lois, at their Troy home. his sons Dave (Renae) of Springfield, VA, Don (Lori) of Moscow, ID, Mitch (Susan) of Charlotte, NC, and Dennis (Noelle) of Spokane, WA. Step-daughter Laure Larsen of Lewiston, ID and Step-son Dr. Gabriel Charbonneau of Stevensville, MT; thirteen grandchildren (Eric, Jessica, Sherri, Michael, Katie, Elizabeth, Emily, Casey, Amanda, Samantha, Jordan, Brooks and Dane); six great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. at Troy Lutheran Church, on Tuesday June 23, 2015. Pastor Randall Nicolai will officiate and military honors will be provided by the Untied States Air Force Honor Guard. A potluck reception will follow at the Church Social Hall. Inurnment will follow at a later date at the Pinecrest Cemetery in Deary. Viewing will be held at Short's Funeral Chapel on Monday June 22, 2015 from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Troy Lutheran Church, Troy Idaho.
