Debora L. Welch

Debora Lynne Welch passed into the consciousness of the Tao on October 19, 2014 after dancing with cancer for four years. Born to Patsy and the late David Welch on May 29, 1957 at Fort Colorado Springs, Colo., her three brothers Allan, Dan and Damon later joined the family and they grew up in Sullivan, Ohio. She graduated from Black River High School in 1975 and traveled to Moscow the next year to attend the University of Idaho. She first began study in museology, but received a bachelor's of science in Anthropology in 1980. While working to complete the graduate program, she worked in the school's anthro lab. Deb met her husband Robert Broyles in Moscow and married on November 20, 1983. They have two children--Megan Breckenridge of Spokane Valley, Wash. and Ryan Broyles of Moscow-as well as two grandchildren, Anthony and Madison. She was always involved with community service activities and as a life-long member of the Girl Scouts. She stayed active as a troop leader, outdoor adult trainer, service unit leader and wild land EMT with the belief that anyone could learn better outside. Her other areas of interest an expertise included Native American beadwork, basketweaving, Navajo and Chilkoot weaving and Sufism. Memorial ceremony date to be announced.
