Dennis Woolverton 4/14/51 -8/28/26

Dennis was born April 14, 1951 in Moscow, Idaho to Wilbur W. and M. Dorothy Woolverton.

He grew up north of Potlatch and attended Potlatch Schools and graduated in May 1969.

He loved cars from an early age, helping his dad and brothers work on theirs.

This love of cars directed his career as an auto mechanic, or grease monkey as he called himself.

He first started working in Potlatch for John Lienhard, later having a career at Sears in Moscow where he was the Service Manager in the shop. Once they closed, he worked for a few smaller shops ending up at Bruneel Tire in Moscow where he eventually retired in 2013.

He married Shirley Heustis in January 1972. They went on to have 2 daughters, Candi and Tammy. They made their home out on Hatter Creek in Princeton, for most of the girls’ childhood. They divorced in 1991. Dennis then moved to Moscow where he met Becky Knapp. They married in February 1999 and made their home in Troy, later moving to Potlatch and then Helmer once they retired.

Dennis enjoyed being outdoors, you could always find him in his shop or out hunting or fishing.

Before moving to Moscow, he was a member of the Latah County Vehicle Posse, and search and rescue team. He loved taking the family woodcutting, berry picking, mushroom hunting and camping. Later in his life he got into woodworking. He loved to work with old barn wood and would make photo frames, boxes and anything else he could think of. He loved to teach others how to work on cars and loved to help his neighbor Pete in the shop they built. He was always willing to share his knowledge.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years Becky Woolverton, Daughters Candi Wood (David), Tammy Woolverton, 2 Step Sons- David Knapp, Larry Martin, 3 Grandsons, 2 step grandsons, 1 step granddaughter , 4 great grand daughters, 1 step great grandson, 1 step great grand daughter., 2 brothers - Jim Woolverton, Jerry Woolverton and 2 sisters - Anita Walser and Judy Colvin, and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors who loved him.
