Donna Mae Wallen

Donna Mae Wallen, a life-long Moscow resident, died Saturday, January 2, 2016 at her home. She was 77. Donna Mae was born April 11, 1938 in Moscow to Donald Elton and Charlotte Ardice Sprecker Morton, attended Moscow schools, graduating from Moscow High School in 1956. She attended Kinman Business College in Spokane and returned to Moscow working as a secretary for the Moscow Chamber of Commerce. Donna Mae was married to Glen R. Wallen at the First Presbyterian Church in Moscow on September 8, 1956. They made their home in Moscow where Donna Mae continued with the Chamber. She was a homemaker when her children were growing up and an active 4-H leader for many years. She later worked as a clerk at the Hallmark Store in the Palouse Mall during the 1980's. She also enjoyed camping and picking huckleberries, reading, sewing, and her flower gardens. Fulfilling a lifelong dream, Donna Mae enrolled at the University of Idaho and graduated with a BA in psychology in 1996, and in 2002 obtained her BS degree in Child Development and Family Relations with honors. She was very proud to be an "older graduate". Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Glen, at their Moscow home; daughters, Glenda (Dennis) Deputy of Paradise Valley, NV, Jeanette Rose of Lewiston, Lorraine Mallett of Boise, Roxane (Randy) Fredrickson of Troy and sons, Neal (Tammy) Wallen and Gordon (Sue) Wallen all of Moscow. Donna Mae also leaves 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, a sister, Louise Brown of Goldendale, WA, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents, Donna Mae was preceded in death by a son, Wesley, in 2014, a grandson, Adam Glen Roy in 1978 and a brother, Ron Morton in 2008. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Short's Funeral Chapel in Moscow. Rev. Norman Fowler of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate and burial will follow at the Moscow Cemetery. A reception and time of remembering will be at Schierman's Event Center on Robinson Park Road afterward. Viewing will be at Short's Funeral Chapel on Sunday from Noon until 8:00 PM. The family suggests memorials be made to the Humane Society of the Palouse or to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
