Evelyn May Becker of Genesee died Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Life Care Center in Lewiston. She was 85. Evelyn "Lynnie" was born June 11, 1931 at Buhl, Idaho to Leo N. and Eva Maud Scully Jankowski. She grew up and attended school at Buhl, graduating from high school there. She enrolled in college at Marylhurst, OR for a year, before entering Holy Names Convent at Marylhurst. She completed college at Holy Names in Spokane. In her senior year, she met Donald S. Becker who, with a friend, drove to Spokane on a double date. She and Don were married at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Buhl on December 30, 1953. Don had completed his ROTC training at the University of Idaho, and on their wedding night, left for Georgia where Don was to report for duty. Following his discharge in 1955, they moved to the Becker Farm near Genesee where they lived, loved and worked all of their lives. Don and Evelyn were very active in St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society, was involved in Marriage Encounters and Search Program and she taught CCD for many years. She was a Mary Kay Cosmetics representative for over 30 years, enjoyed gardening, genealogy, and in later years, traveling. She was a cancer survivor since 1988. Don preceded her in death in March of 1999. Surviving are her children, Mark (Mary) Becker, Tim (Corlene) Becker, Jeff Becker, Matt (Adair) Becker all of Genesee, Diane (Bruce) Reilly of Huntersville, NC, Christopher Becker (Eric Dickerson) of Volcano Island, HI. 14 Grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Jeanette (Doug) True of Billings, MT and Rita (Clifford) Bradley of Missoula, MT and a brother, Tom Jankowski of Boise. In addition to her husband of 46 years, Don, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, John in 1974 and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lee and Tom Nash. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Life Care Center in Lewiston for the care they provided her the past year and a half. The rosary will be recited at 10:30 AM Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Genesee with the Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Genesee. A reception and luncheon will be at the Genesee Fire Hall afterward. Viewing will be at Short's Funeral Chapel on Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Genesee or to the Genesee Fire and Ambulance Department.
