Gale Edwin “Eddie” Gray passed away peacefully at his home in Viola, Idaho, on May 21, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 88.
Born June 2, 1936, in Viola to James and Thelma (Simpson) Gray, Eddie was a lifelong resident of the area. He studied at Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, where he met Joyce Kellom. They married in 1955 and raised three children in Viola, where Eddie farmed with his father.
A man of deep faith, Eddie was active in the Church of the Nazarene and served on a mission in South Africa with Joyce. Known for his humor and generous spirit, Eddie spent his life encouraging others—visiting shut-ins, calling friends, and sharing the hope he found in Christ.
After Joyce’s passing in 2002, Eddie married longtime family friend Karil Henderson in 2003. Together they continued running the family’s alpaca ranch and later enjoyed dog breeding and shows.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Karil; his children Karla Turner (George), Connie Kimmell (Paul), and Eddie Jr.; 10 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; stepdaughter Brandi Davies (Brent) and family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce, his parents, and his sister Carolyn (Gray) McCoy.
Eddie’s legacy of faith, kindness, and laughter will be treasured by all who knew him.
