Gary Loomis

Gary A. Loomis, of Bovill, passed away on Monday, February 22nd, 2016 at Aspen Park Kindred Care Center in Moscow, surrounded by his family. He was 75. Gary was born May 10, 1940 in Moscow, ID to Arthur (Art) and Dorothy (Linderman) Loomis. He lived in Renton, WA and various towns in the area until settling in Bovill in 1949 where he has lived ever since. Gary graduated from Deary High School in 1959 and married Sheila White on May 24, 1962 in Coeur d'Alene, ID together having one daughter and two sons. He joined the volunteer Bovill Fire Department in May 1963 and recently celebrated 50 years of service, having played a part in many volunteer projects within his community. Gary worked several jobs including Simplot, Joslyn Pole Yard, JE Hall Logging, PFI, and retired from Lawson Logging in 2002. After retirement, he enjoyed riding his four-wheeler with his Uncle Ruthford and friend Steve Funke, while searching for long lost items with his beloved metal detector. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing for steel head and blueback and picking huckleberries with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sheila, his children Sherri (George) Dilles of Moscow, Doug (Lisa) Loomis of Boise and Danny Loomis of Spokane, and his four grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his infant sister, Shirley Rae, and brother, Jim Loomis. A Celebration of Life and potluck will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Bovill Community Center. Donations in memory can be sent to the Bovill Volunteer Fire Department.
