Harold W. Poteet

Harold W. Poteet, Jr. of Viola died Thursday, April 9, 2015 while cutting wood near Viola. He was 62. Harold was born October 22, 1952 at Weaverville, CA to Harold W. and Amy Lee Upton Poteet. He grew up and attended school at Paradise, CA, graduating from high school there. He worked as a carpet layer, tractor driver in the rice fields and construction in California. In 1988 he married Debra Peter in Reno, Nevada. She preceded him in death in 2004, and shortly thereafter, he moved to Idaho, settling in Viola. He continued working as a carpenter and in logging. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife, Harold was preceded in death by his father in 2013. He is survived by his mother, Amy Poteet in Orland, CA and his children, Tamara Eden in New Jersey, Jennifer Gonzalez in Biggs, CA, Marc Lopes in Clear Lake, CA and James Poteet in Viola along with 7 grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, David Poteet in Anza, CA and sisters, Kim Carr in Paradise, CA, Cheryl Daniel in Corning, CA and Laurie Wheeler in Utah. A private family service will be held later and his ashes will be scattered in some of his favorite places. The family suggests memorials be made to the Potlatch High School Wrestling or Football Programs.
