Heidi Rutar

November 12, 1984 — February 7, 2025

Heidi Rutar, born in November 1984 in Portland, Oregon, passed away in February 2025. She lived a life full of adventure, love, and unwavering faith.

A graduate of Milwaukie High School, Heidi earned a degree in Agriculture Business Management from Oregon State University. She spent time as a U.S. Forest Service Firefighter in 2004 demonstrating her bravery and commitment to protecting nature. Her passion for the land and self-sufficiency led her to pursue homesteading, where she found immense joy in creating a sustainable and nurturing home for her family.

Heidi’s spirit was one of warmth and positivity. When she laughed, her eyes would sparkle, lighting up the room and bringing joy to those around her. She believed in the power of words and lived by daily affirmations that served as a guiding light, helping her navigate life’s challenges with grace and resilience. She pursued a successful career in entrepreneurship, achieving the role of Mary Kay Sales Director in 2016.

Her Catholic faith was incredibly important to her, providing deep comfort and peace, especially in her final days. She lived her faith through kindness, generosity, and a steadfast trust in God’s plan.

Music was one of Heidi’s great passions, and she especially loved playing the guitar. Whether strumming a tune for her children or simply enjoying a favorite song, music was a source of joy and expression in her life. More than anything, family was the center of her world. She married the love of her life, Nick Rutar, in June 2012, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to their five cherished children: Brigitte, Claire, Isaac, Ruth, and Eliza.

Heidi is preceded in death by her beloved cousins, Adrian Irwin, Tim Neilson, and David Kurtz. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on February 14, 2025, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Keizer, Oregon. Interment will take place at St. Luke's Cemetery in Woodburn, Oregon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Heidi Rutar Memorial Fund in her honor.

Her love, light, and laughter will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
