Helen Lucille Green

Helen Lucille Green of Moscow died July 25, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was 90. Lucille was born April 1, 1926 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Elmer J. and Laura M. (Dyson) Logan. She grew up and attended school, graduating from high school in Kansas. During WWII she worked for the Continental Hat and Cap Company, which manufactured headwear for the military. She and Major Franklyn T. Green, a B-17 pilot in the U.S. Air Force were married in Leavenworth on March 24, 1946. During Mr. Green's military career they were transferred to a variety of bases including Long Beach, CA, Okinawa, Japan, and Larson Air Force Base in Moses Lake, WA where Franklyn retired after 26 years of service. Lucille stayed home to raise her kids, enjoyed volunteering in various organizations and spent many years serving as a Girl Scout leader. The family lived in the Tri-Cities, WA for 10 years before moving to Moscow in 1971 and later to Dayton, WA. Lucille was an accomplished seamstress and quilter and entered many of her creations in the Columbia County Fair where she was awarded countless ribbons. They enjoyed dancing and supported the Washington-Idaho Symphony. She also enjoyed baking (especially cakes), hosting family dinners, watching Mariners baseball and was active in the Roadrunners. In 1993, her husband Franklyn died. She later moved back to Moscow to be closer to family. She is survived by her children Sharon (Wally) Quast of Moscow, Franklyn (Eileen) Green in Aiken, SC, Charlotte (Jon) Schultz in Loveland, OH, Sandy (Rich) Hoeft of Moscow and Shirley (Rex) Lindquist of Genesee. She also leaves her grandchildren, Amanda, Deacon, Kyle, Lynnessa, Skyler, Ashlynn and Rebekka as well as 13 great grandchildren. Lucille is also survived by a brother, Jimmy Logan in Texas and a sister, Donna Bartholow in Independence, MO. In addition to her parents and husband, Lucille was also preceded in death by her sister, Jeanne Andrews. A private burial will be at the Moscow Cemetery. The Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, August 1st at Trinity Reformed Church, 101 East Palouse River Dr., Moscow. Lucille suggested memorials be made to the Logos School Annual Fund, 110 Baker St., Moscow, ID 83843.
