Jack Camm

John “Jack” Camm, of Moscow died Wednesday May 7, 2025, surrounded by family in his home. He was 87 years young.

Jack was born Dec. 5, 1937, in Spokane to Frederick and Margaret Camm. He grew up in Harrison, Idaho, attending local schools.

After graduating Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served three tours from 1957-1969. During his time in the Navy he worked as a naval air electrician. He was stationed in Okanawa Japan, San Diego, Whidby Island, Wash. and Norfolk, Va. After leaving the Navy Jack went to work for General Electric. Jack attended Norfolk State University, graduating Magna cum-laude with a degree in electrical engineering. He later went to work for Ratheon until his retirement in 1993. During his time in Virginia when working as a substitute teacher he volunteered and was loved as the girls basketball coach. Jack was also a member of the Idaho Odd Fellows.

Jack loved the western part of the U.S. eventually making his way back home to Idaho. In retirement he enjoyed designing and making jewelry, lapidary, wood working and gardening. Jack had a love of Rocks. He collected and was very knowledgeable rockhound, and was part of the Maricopa Lapidary Society and Pebble Pickin Posse in Arizona.

Jack is survived by his partner of 30 years, Rebecca MaCleod, his son and daughter-in-law Chuck and Debbie Spurgeon of Moscow, daughters Janetta Camm and Jacqueiline Camm  and her three kids of Rhode Island, his granddaughters Mandy Swanson, Cayla Bowers, grandson Devin Loaiza, of Spokane, and granddaughter Brooke Spurgeon, of Moscow.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the First Presbyterian Church of Moscow, 405 S. Van Buren St., Moscow.
