Jack Chamberlain

Jack E. Chamberlain of Moscow died Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Gritman Medical Center. He was 87. Jack was born January 21, 1930 in Rochester, Minnesota to Clair and Cora Brown Chamberlain. In 1945 the family moved to Moscow, Jack graduated from Moscow High School in 1949. He worked for the Chevy Garage before joining the Air Force in 1952, serving as a gunner and flight engineer during the Korean Conflict. While home on leave, he married Ivadell Green in Moscow on August 23, 1952. The couple moved to Texas, while he finished his service duties. Following his discharge in 1956, they returned to Moscow. Jack worked as a logger and drove truck. He worked for a time as a mechanic for Simplot, later for Bill Brant, and at WSU before going to work at C&B Music and Vending. In 1974 he became a partner with Don Miller in a body shop. Jack became a Moscow Volunteer Fireman, under Chief Ralph McAllister in 1969. He attended the National Fire Academy in Washington, DC in 1979, and in 1980 accepted a position as Chief of the Worley Fire District. After retiring from there, they moved back to Moscow care for Ivadell's mother and Jack helped his son, Tim open Moscow RV Center. He was a member of the Moscow Elks Lodge, Eagles and Moose Lodges, and had served as a trustee for the Eagles. He enjoyed camping, hunting and outdoor activities and will be especially remembered for his ability to always be fix and build anything. Jack was privileged to be a member of the Northwest Honor Flight to Washington, DC recently. Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ivadell in September of 2016, a grandson, Craige Heilman and three brothers, George, Richard and Clair Chamberlain. Surviving are his children, Larry (Debbie Noren) Chamberlain of Troy, Tim (Laurie) Chamberlain of Deary. Julie (Steve) Odenborg of Genesee and Sally (Jim) Lyon of Pasco, WA and nephew Kelley Chamberlain of White Bird, ID. Jack also leaves six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and his faithful companion "Lucky Dog". A Celebration of Life and potluck will begin at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 13th at the Moscow Eagles Lodge on Main Street. A private burial will be at the Moscow Cemetery this spring. The family suggests memorials be made to the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department or to the Moscow Eagles Lodge.
