James M. Lee

James M. Lee of Troy died Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow. He was 75. Jim was born January 5, 1940 on a small farm 4 ½ miles Southeast of New Plymouth, Idaho to Harold E. and Gladys M Barrickman Lee. He grew up on the farm, attended school and graduated from high school. He joined the Air Force in 1958 and served as an Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technician. During his career he was stationed in England, Oregon, Alaska (during the 1962 earthquake!), Arizona, Korea, Oklahoma and Germany. While on leave from Alaska, he and Elaine F. Schultz were married on April 30, 1967 at Ola, Idaho. They continued in the Air Force until his discharge, lived at Drumright, OK, moving to Moscow in 1984. Jim worked for Fork Refrigeration and later at Sears in Moscow and moved to Troy in 1987. Jim enjoyed model railroading, fishing and NASCAR. He was also active at Troy Lutheran Church, serving several years on the Church Council and as President as well as the Lutheran Men's Group. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Elaine, at their home in Troy, and children, Vickie (Bill) Taylor of Edmond, OK, Sue (Dan) Branting of Moscow, Cindra (Olaf) Solvie of Rapid City, SD and Steven Lee of Troy. He also leaves 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and a sister, Grace (Bert) Bauer of Chehalis, WA. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Troy Lutheran Church. A reception will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall. Private burial with Military Honors will precede the service at Burnt Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials to the Troy Ambulance Fund as an expression of their gratitude for their dedication to Jim. Arrangements have been entrusted to Short's Funeral Chapel, Moscow, and online condolences may be sent to www.shortsfuneralchapel.net.
