Jane Everts (Meyer) Leidenfrost passed peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord Jesus Christ on December 6, 2016 in Moscow, Idaho. Jane was born in Gooding, Idaho on December 5, 1923. She graduated in 1941 from Gooding High School and from the University of Idaho with a B.Sc. in Botany in 1946. She taught high school biology for two years from 1946-48. She attended Northwest Christian College from 1948-50 earning a degree in Religious Education. In 1954 she volunteered for overseas missionary service in the Congo. In 1954-55 she trained at the Hartford Kennedy School of Missions and met Theodore E. Leidenfrost. Jane married Ted in July of 1955. From 1956-1989 she served alongside her husband in Liberia, West Africa raising their three sons and serving the Kpelle people through literacy, Bible Translation and Christian education. Jane is survived by her sister Betty Stutznegger of Astoria, OR, her three sons and their wives - Csaba and Lisa Leidenfrost, Gabor and Nancy Leidenfrost, Huba and Jeni Leidenfrost, 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 8 nieces and nephews. A memorial celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Moscow, ID.
