Janice A. Clyde, 74, of Moscow

Janice Annette Clyde passed away in her home in Moscow on December 26, 2016 surrounded by her son and daughter-in-law and her caregiver. Janice was born on September 7, 1942, in Moscow. Her parents, Clarence Wilbert and Wilma (Billie) (Ellis) Petersen raised Janice and her sister Marilyn on the farm just east of Moscow in the Joel area. Janice participated in Moscow Junior Rodeo and was a 1957 Princess and Rodeo Queen in 1958. Janice graduated from Moscow High in 1960 and attended Kinman Business School in Spokane then worked in the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service office. Janice married Sherman Clyde on September 17, 1965. Together they raised Timothy on the farm where they raised quarter horses, operated Clyde Hereford Ranch to breed and show registered Hereford cattle, and grew wheat, barley, lentils, peas, and hay. Over her lifetime Janice served as secretary for the Lewiston Hereford Association, and served for numerous years in the Latah County Garden Club. Sherm and Jan also operated Clyde's Antiques and enjoyed going to garage sales and auctions. Janice's proud moments include earning the 1991 Show Bull of the Northwest and showing their prize bull Reggie on the stage at the Golden Nugget in Reno. Sherm and Jan also served as leaders for the Bald Butte 4-H Club and earned many, many ribbons for her prize roses, unique flower exhibits using antiques, garden produce (especially raspberries and Carolina string beans) and cattle at the Latah County Fair. Sherm and Jan enjoyed their winters in Kihei where they enjoyed the beach and playing Bocce Ball with their friends from all over the US and Canada. Jan is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years earlier this year, and her parents Wilbert and Billie. She is survived by her son Tim (Lisa) of Moscow, grandchildren Samantha (Aldo) Lopez of River Falls, WI and Nick (Brigitte) of Boise, ID, sister Marilyn Farley of Boise, ID and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial will be held for Jan in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Northwest Children's Home, P.O.
