Jaylynne Reed

Jaylynne Renae Reed, 18, of Moscow passed away June 13, 2017 as a result of a head on collision while traveling near the Montana border. Jaylynne (or "Jay" as she was lovely referred to as) had graduated from Moscow High School just days earlier and was on her way to Indiana where she planned to attend Ivy Tech Community College and carry out her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She was kind, funny, determined, and taken to soon. Jaylynne was a highly motivated individual; working for the Affordable Veterinary Care and Spay Neuter Clinic for 4+ years and Gambinos for 2+ years. In addition to being a full time MHS student and working more than most adults, Jaylynne was also taking college level classes and was an office aide for MHS. She took this work ethic with her to the lanes and became a very skilled bowler. She played with the Lewiston High School team and won Idaho State 5A Girls Team two years in a row. This year she also swept the lanes as Idaho State 5A Girls Singles champion. Her high game was an impressive 267. She loved bowling for both the individual challenge and the team comradery. Working in teams was easy for Jaylynne because she valued relationships and had a heart that was open to any and everyone regardless of their background. Sensing this, peers felt comfortable turning to her when having a difficult time; knowing that she would be empathic and helpful. As a result, she received special training as a Natural Helper through a high school retreat. Her lifelong friends would agree with her sense of compassion, loyalty, and honesty. Friends and family were everything to her, selflessly taking responsibility for her little brother when help was needed. One of her most treasured activities was hunting with her Dad and brother Kody. Outdoor recreation is a way of life for the Reed family, and Jaylynne took great pleasure in being competitive with her dad and brother. She was good at getting people to step out of their comfort zone (as well as stepping outside of her own); convincing her mom to be in the musical production of "The Music Man" with her. This was a special memory for Jaylynne and her mom, along with much time spent together doing hair, nails, and hanging out. Above all, Jaylynne was fearless. She knew who she was and where she wanted to go. While most teenagers are still figuring it all out, Jaylynne was non-apologetic and proud to be herself. She was strong willed (and could occasionally be referred to as stubborn); never backing down from a challenge. Her smile and quirky laugh made this world a better place. Jaylynne is survived by her parents, Kim and Don Reed of Moscow; her brother Kody Reed and his fiance Anna Zimmerman; her beloved nieces Kylie and Harper; her cherished youngest siblings Kaysson and Alyssa; and her eldest sister Danielle Melton. She is also survived by her many other close friends and relatives whom she loved dearly. A memorial service will be held July 8th at the Nazarene Church in Moscow at 11am.
