Jerrold E. "Jerry" Carlson, of Moscow, died Wednesday August 30, 2017 at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow. He was 86. Jerry was born, May 30, 1931, in Spokane, WA and was adopted by Edward and Helena Carlson. He grew up in Troy and graduated from Troy High School in 1949. In 1950, Jerry joined the Army as a Paratrooper, and served in the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1953. In 1955, he married Norma Nelson, and they later divorced. On February 24, 1961 Jerry married his wife of 56 years, Earline Kirkpatrick. After leaving the service Jerry went to work in the timber industry where worked as a logger, mill worker, heavy equipment operator and long haul trucker. After he retired Jerry and Earline were the camp hosts at Little Boulder campground. He enjoyed riding ATVs and snowmobiles with his grandchildren. In his younger days he drove stock car and motorcycles and was very talented musically. He is survived by his wife, Earline, at their Moscow home, 8 children, 29 grandchildren, 46 great - grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, 1 sister, and numerous nieces and nephews . He was preceded in death by 2 sons Truman and Chris. A celebration of life will be held at the Troy Lions Club on Friday September 8, 2017 at 4p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Humane society of the Palouse, and the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
