James “Jim” Albert Sutcliffe was born September 1st, 1931, in Riondel, BC, to John and Maggie Sutcliffe. He was the sixth of seven children and the last member of his generation when he passed away on September 20th, 2024, in Moscow, Idaho, at the age of 93. Jim got his first job at the mine in Riondel when he was 16.
He attended Gonzaga University in Spokane and obtained a degree in electrical engineering. After graduating, he worked as an electrical engineer for more than 30 years.
While attending gospel meetings in Spokane, he met his bride: Anita Lorine Hooser. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Jim and Anita moved across the country and back before settling in Redmond, WA, to raise their six children: John, Jamie, Mike, Margaret, Juanita, and Cathrine.
In college, Jim also made his choice to serve God and lived that faith for the rest of his years. In these last difficult months, Jim was very ready to move on to the next life. His readiness continues to be a comfort to his friends and family. In Anita’s words: “He’s with the Lord, and his soul is safe. He made it!”
