John P Pici, born on January 15, 1947, in Wilmerding, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, in Moscow, Idaho. John’s journey through life was marked by dedication, adventure, and a passion for electronics and exploration.
Before John proudly served nine years in the U.S. Navy as an electronics specialist, he laid the foundation of his career working alongside his father in the field of electronics. His service included significant time in Vietnam aboard the USS Oriskany, where he honed his expertise working on weapons systems on board F4 fighter jets. Following his military career, John continued his professional growth and received his B.S. degree as an Electronic Engineer. He supervised the Electronics Department at Harrah's Hotel Casino at Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Then he moved on to Trans Sierra Communications in Reno, Nevada as their International Sales Engineer. In the early 1990s, he took a bold step by establishing Jtronics, a business dedicated to electronic system designs and installations where he was a pioneer in the setup of riverboat casinos, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and innovative mindset.
Education was a cornerstone of John's life. He graduated high school in La Puente, California a year early before committing himself to military service and furthering his knowledge in electronics. He took advantage of his veterans benefits to complete his education as an Electronics engineer.
Beyond his professional pursuits, John was a man of wide interests and an adventurous spirit. He enjoyed traveling, often embarking on memorable cruises to breathtaking destinations such as Alaska, Mexico and Tahiti. His love of nature led him to many Yosemite visits. His passion for astronomy reflected his wonder for the universe, guiding his appreciation for the world around him.
John's personal life was deeply enriched by his marriage to Jean Pici, which lasted for an impressive 42 years. Their union was one of partnership and love, as they navigated life together through its many ups and downs. John is survived by his devoted wife, Jean, as well as brother Ralph Pici. His legacy continues through his stepson Kevin Long who worked alongside him in the electronics field. Surviving as well is his step grandson Daylan who looked up to John who was a big part of his young adult life. John adored spending time with his "son" and "grandson" on the farm and cheering on their favorite football teams.
John P Pici will be remembered for his contributions as a professional, his adventurous spirit, and the love and support he generously provided to his family. His presence will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
