John Monroe Williams IV

Jul 11, 1991 — Jun 1, 2026

Boise, ID

John Williams, 34, of Moscow, ID, passed away on June 1, 2026, after battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) for 18 months. He leaves behind a family who will continue to honor his bright beautiful spirit every day: his parents, Michael and Lorrie Williams; his precious daughter, Sarah Williams; brother Jerry Bright and family; nana Joan Williams; aunts and uncles; 2 nieces and a nephew; extended family and a wide circle of friends who were blessed to know him.

He will forever be remembered for his beautiful blue eyes, infectious smile, his passion for life, and the way he could light up any room he walked into and virtual gaming rooms. Yes, John loved gaming and had many friends in the gaming community across the world. His bright spirit and warm heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

He was an invaluable member of the team at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL), where his hard work, dedication, and cheerful disposition made a lasting impact on his colleagues. SEL supported John over the past 18 months during his AML diagnosis and treatments. They were his work family! He told us, his family, that many times. His family can’t thank them enough for all their support.

His family wish to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Luke’s Boise Medical Center for their exceptional care, compassion, and tireless support. There is one nurse who helped them through John’s passing, they want to mention, Dane. John and Dane became friends over the past few months. John asked specifically for Dane to be his nurse as he passed away.

Rather than mourning his passing, John requested a celebration of life. Family and friends are invited to come together to share memories, swap funny stories, and celebrate the light John brought into this world. We’ll gather at Ghormley Park, 400 Home Street, Moscow, ID, on July 11, 2026, from 2:00-3:30 p.m. Please feel free to bring your own favorite drink or snack to enjoy during the afternoon. Maybe a favorite snack of John’s! There will be no formal meal provided. Please bring a blanket or chair as well.

If you wish, bring along a photo, a written memory, or a small memento that reminds you of John to add to the memory table.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor John by performing an act of kindness or by making a donation to the Human Society of the Palouse, 2019 E. White Ave., Moscow, ID, 83843. He picked a beautiful dog, Nyhla, from there. She became his best friend through his treatment.
